2002 RSX-S Stock Kpro no AC

Post by bnanton@gmail.com »

Hey guys,

I am having some AC troubles with the following.

2002 RSX Type S - Stock
Factory map for K20A2 just with immobilizer disabled.
Multiplexer set to normal as per stock settings.
Version 4.0.8.0
Attaching the data logging file (hopefully this is correct )

Trouble shooting
Erased the ECU and loaded the map
Set the Multiplexer to disable and back to normal
USE VTP as A/C input switch but the AC remains on all the time and of course cannot be controlled by the cabin switch.

Hopefully you guys can offer some insight.

The AC will not work if the multiplexor is set to anything other than normal or if VTP is selected as the AC switch, so keep the stock settings.
When was the last time the AC worked? Is it the original ECU for the vehicle? Has any work been done on the vehicle recently?

Thanks for the response.

With the stock ECU the A/C worked. This is not the same ECU but from the same vehicle with the Kpro installed. No additional work was done. But with it comes on and remains on with the VT switch configuration. So with the VT switch one the ign is on the compressor fan comes on and once you start you hear the compressor kick in.

With everything is set to stock and it will not work with the cabin switch.

Does the temperature gauge work? Can you see ACS changing when the ac switch is pressed?

Yes temperature guage works and when you say ACS do you mean the idle up or idle drop - no i don't. I am positive the condenser fan nor clutch is being engaged.

ACS is the sensor in KManager which shows if the AC input is active. Note that the ECU input is not just the switch, but the pressure switch and temperature control needs to be closed for the ECU to switch on the AC.
If you don't see the ACS change in the ECU then the problem either is that ACS input to the ECU is damaged, or the AC pressure switch or AC temperature switch are open.

Thanks. I will check the sensor. But if this is working with the vtec pressure switch configured what does this all mean ?

Ok I think I understand now. To test I used the VTC ac switch, disabled the multiplexer and vtec oil pressure. The Ac fan an clutch came on and guess what no cold air. Your right we got AC issues it would see.

Thanks for the help.

Ok happy to report that with a little top up using those refrigerant kits the AC is now working. Thanks for all your help!! Using the vtec pressure switch I was able to force it on to do testing - instead of using a 12 volt on the clutch and fan :).
