'92 Honda Civic VX application

Post by iphyx »

Hi,

I have a 1992 Honda Civic VX and want to install a Hondata system. The Honda ECU identification is:

37820-P07-A00
670-101316

I emailed one of the dealers and he said the P07 had to be replaced with a P28.
You will need a socketed ECU P28...
He couldn't tell me why, just that I needed it. Is it because there is no socket on the P07 or are there functions on the P28 that are not on the P07? I can add a socket to the P07 if that is all that is needed.

Are you planning on putting Hondata on the stock VX motor [d15z1]?

P07 can be used. my personal H22 runs with one. the only requirement is that it is a P07 that uses a 4wire O2. the 5-wire O2 ecu will not work. even the IAB can be made to work.

D15z1 yes; stock no. The engine needed some work (275,000+ miles) and I installed a new crank, advanced the timing, and boreed it out.

I'll have to run down to the garage and check it out.

While not listed "By ECU" the ECU is listed at http://hondata.com/techecuid.html

Is there any advantage in using a P28 instead of the P07?
Measure it with a micrometer,
Mark it with a chalk,
Then cut it with an ax.
