Datalog vs recoding

Post by Hondasingapore »

Hi:
Can someone please explain to me what is the difference between these 2 options of FlashPro Manager software 4.6.0?

Can either 1 of these options be used with the Datalog button on FlashPro? Luke can I click Datalog of FlashPro Manager to start data logging and press Datalog button of FlashPro to stop the logging???

Thanks.

There are 2 ways to datalog - one is hardware logging on the FashPro itself. This process is achieved through pressing the Datalog button on the device as you have described. You have to download the logfile from the FlashPro to your computer after you record a logfile onto it.

The other way is to have a computer or laptop connected to the USB cable of the FlashPro, you can record a logfile directly into the FlashPro software using the record button on FlashPro manager - you can also monitor any desired sensor channel live through the display and graph windows. This is a more immediate process but you have to keep the computer connected and powered on the entire time to capture the logfile. One caveat, the sampling rate of the logging is slightly lower using this software logging method. It's generally good enough for dyno tuning, etc, but there may be some cases where you want more sampling resolution so using the hardware logging method is the better option in that case.

May be I need to add that Datalog does not save the data log files It shows live sensor data and values for live tuning, etc. correct me if I am wrong as I read it from Hondata help topics

When I said the "record" button to capture logs in FlashPro manager I meant this button in the toolbar (also toggles on/off with F9 key)

once it captures the logfile you have to click the save icon (looks like a floppy disk) on the graph window to save it, OR you can set up flashpro manager to automatically save the logs that you record with the record button (or the F9 toggle). go to the datalog tab in the settings window and activate the "Autosave datalogs" feature and then select the Directory location option that you prefer.
