K-Pro malfunction - On line - ignition off - car in limp

Post by mh_mini »

Hi,
I have a 04 RSX-S with bolt ons.
Kpro SN: 56188 (37820-PRB-A05, 2068-507629) Bought shipped from Garage 16 back in 2019
Software Version 4.6.1, board firmware 26

- First sign of problem happened 2024, ran fine for about 5 years, then went into limp mode (4k rpm) and read on KManager as "on line - ignition off". Waited for about an hour, restarted, car was fine and drove home.

- Problem didn't reoccur until months later, and happened again. Same solution, waited and turned back on. Started intermittently happening more and one time got a DTC of "Daughter board communication error." (looked up on forum). No other DTCs read in KManager.

- Happened more frequently (usually either on the way to work or on the way back), now basically stuck in limp mode. Can't upload cal files, detects the ECU, reads properties (passes the hardware tests) and can retrieve cal file. ECU reads "On Line - Ignition off" when car is running in limp.

Things I've tried, during the process of the issue becoming more frequent.
- battery tender
- New OEM battery
- Checked alternator, 10.5V when cranking
- Battery +/- and Alternator cables looked kinda corroded, replaced those. Injector ground is on engine head.
- Tried starting with battery booster on it
- Unfortunately I don't have access to another Type-S or K-Pro ECU to try swapping

No Dice. Any further steps to test? Is the K-Pro broken for connecting to the mother board? Can the board be inspected?
much appreciated

This K-Pro was installed by Johnston Research & Performance, Inc. and there may be an issue with the socketing. You should have them check this out.
