Hello Hondata team,
I own a 2022+ Indonesian-market Honda HR-V RV3 1.5 Turbo CVT and use FlashPro Manager 4.7.4. I am trying to confirm whether the ethanol functions currently shown in the HR-V calibration can provide genuine real-time flex-fuel operation, and whether Hondata CANFlex hardware can be supported on this platform.
I have attached two screenshots for comparison:
1. 2022+ Indonesian Civic FE 1.5T CVT ethanol calibration menu
2. 2022+ Indonesian HR-V RV3 1.5T CVT ethanol calibration menu
The HR-V calibration already displays the following parameters:
- Ethanol input enabled
- 0–5 V ethanol-percentage calibration
- Ethanol fuel compensation
- Ethanol ignition multiplier
- Ethanol ignition compensation
- Ethanol ECT cranking compensation
- Ethanol WOT fuel compensation
- Boost-by-ethanol limit
However, unlike the Civic FE calibration, the HR-V menu does not show:
- CANFlex as an ethanol-input option
- Advanced ethanol mode
- Advanced ethanol fuel multiplier
- Advanced boost-limit tables
Could you please clarify the following?
1. Does enabling “Ethanol input enabled” on the HR-V provide true real-time flex-fuel operation?
In other words, if an ethanol-content sensor and compatible controller provide the correct input signal, will the ECU continuously read the ethanol percentage and interpolate the fuel, ignition, WOT fuel and boost-limit compensation tables while driving?
2. What hardware and input are required for the HR-V?
- Is the ethanol signal received through an analog 0–5 V input?
- Is the ECT2 input used?
- Which ECU pin should receive the signal?
- What voltage-to-ethanol scaling should be used?
- Is ethanol percentage available as a FlashPro datalog parameter?
3. Can the existing Hondata CANFlex system intended for the 2022+ Civic FE 1.5T be used on the HR-V RV3?
I understand that the fuel-line fittings, wiring or ECU communication may differ, but i doubt that it would be much of a difference. I would like to know whether:
- the Civic CANFlex hardware is electrically compatible;
- only different fuel-line adapters or a wiring harness would be required;
- the HR-V ECU software currently recognizes CANFlex messages;
- or CANFlex is completely unsupported on the HR-V at present.
4. If CANFlex is not currently supported, could it be added to the Indonesian HR-V calibration?
The Indonesian Civic FE 1.5T CVT and HR-V RV3 1.5T CVT use pretty much the same turbocharged 1.5-litre powertrain architecture, and their ethanol-calibration menus already share several functions.
I would therefore like to formally request CANFlex and, if technically possible, Advanced Ethanol support for the Indonesian HR-V 6HM-U52 calibration.
The vehicle is operated in Indonesia, so we don't have any issue regarding emissions compatibility.
5. How should sensor or wiring failure be handled?
For example, if the ethanol sensor, controller or signal wire becomes disconnected, does the HR-V ECU:
- default to E0;
- retain the last valid reading;
- interpret the open circuit as 5 V / E100;
- set a DTC;
- or enter another failsafe state?
This is important because an incorrect high-ethanol reading could result in excessive ignition advance or a higher boost limit while the tank contains low-ethanol gasoline.
6. Can the flex-fuel system be configured while retaining conservative CVT torque limits?
My goal is not to create a large increase in low-rpm torque. The principal objectives are:
- automatic fuel compensation;
- consistent lambda with changing ethanol content;
- reduced knock correction;
- controlled ethanol-based ignition compensation;
- conservative or unchanged midrange boost;
- retention of the existing CVT torque-protection strategy.
Can the boost-by-ethanol limit remain flat or conservative while fuel and ignition compensation remain active?
I currently tuned my car with custom Stage 2 calibration and manually blend approximately E10–E20. I would prefer to install a proper ethanol-content sensor so that the ECU can compensate automatically rather than relying solely on manually calculated blends.
Please let me know whether you need:
- the exact ECU and calibration IDs;
- my current calibration file;
- FlashPro serial number;
- datalogs;
- vehicle VIN information;
- or additional screenshots.
Thank you.
