Help Please! can't get my 3-step to work

i bought this used. s/n:S200-1011
it has all options enabled.
i just installed it a few days ago. installed the clutch switch directly to the box and i can't get it to work. i already tried re-setting the box. holding the button for several seconds while switching the ignition on . still no go. do i have to set it? cause i'm trying it under default settings. is there a way to test the switch? can i just jump the two wires together and try it?

please help...thanks

Which clutch switch are you using?

it looks like a brake switch, the one closest to you with blue stripes(two wire)Image
i'm running a base P30 map i made with romeditor3.6. my car is basically stock with just intake/exhaust right now. 94civic hatch jdm b16a, p28.
car runs great smooth idle etc. solid light on blue box and no cels. hondata switch works when pressed, but clutch switch is a no go.
no launch, fts, and shift light. is it because its a base map? i made no changes when i burned it. i have no cruise control so i mounted under the stock clutch switch.

That looks like a stock Honda switch which will not work with the Hondata. Please reade the instructions in the installation manual in the downloads section of the website. THe part number of the proper clutch switch is JA413 for a Wells stoplight switch from Autozone.

thanks spunkster!
i bought a new switch. i'm located in canada and gave them that part# by wells and they gave me this. its a different brand but they were able to match it to this.
does it look correct? i'll try installing it asap. its a two wire switch. i was wondering whats so special about this switch. isn't it all the same or does it have like a voltage regulator or something. just curious.

k i got it working now but its set to 4500 for launch. i can't reset it tried but still no go. i tried static and dynamic. doesn't seem like it recognizes when i tap on the brake pedal. button switch works when i press it. goes through 1-5 but tap on brakes doesn't change anything. tap brakes but cell still flashes same number all the time.

When datalogging, can you see when you're depressing the brake?

never tried datalogging yet. i checked the pin d2 which is brake switch
it shows voltage everytime i step on the brake. no volts when not touched.
could it be ecu? but everything else works but also i cant reset it to defaults. which launch it 3k. tried holding switch and turn on but still 4500launch.

any help would be appreciated please.

Check the datalogging and see if the ecu is seeing the clutch and brake switch engaging and disengaging.

i checked with hondalogger. it detects the clutch and brake when i step on it.
thing is i can change the 3-step/launch in hondalogger but not with the switch/brake pedal. so everytime i wanna change it i have to do it with the laptop. also it won't allow me to change the vtec or revlimiter. it only lets me change the launch/shift light and shift limiter. what could it be that i can't change it with the brake pedal to set it?

using the current hondalogger and current romeditor.

maybe your vtec point is 'fixed' when you made the chip. try to uncross the fixed vtec point in rom editor and try it again..

when using static setting, does the check engine goes solid when you press the brake pedal? or is it still blinking (mode number)?

in static mode. its still in blinking mode when i step on the brake.
i did reburn the chip i can now adjust vtec only through hondalogger.
thing is hondalogger does see the clutch and brake when pressed.

there's your problem...maybe the wiring of the brake pedal to the ecu is faulty....when using static setting, CEl should go solid once you depress the brake pedal after choosing what mode. if the cel just keeps blinking, it means that there is no signal being sent to the ecu when u press the brakes..

try this. connect an open wire directly to the brake line input in the ecu. i forgot exactly where it is. turn key to ignition, press the red button of hondata, CEl should go blinking on what mode you are. then tap a 12v signal to the brake input pin. your cel should go solid. (waiting for how you to depress the red button for the setting). hth
