IF I datalog a run and show a knock at a certain spot but at the spot where I trace it it shows a klevel below the kthreshold does that mean that it was probably a engine noise knock count pickup?

If the ECU shows the knock count increasing, then it usually is knock. The only time this is not true is if there is something mechanical on the engine making excessive noise.

reason i ask is because it is isolated single knocks even with higher octane and i know the timing is not too advanced. so if i try to tune it out the single knock just moves to another spot.

If you get isolated knocks, try removing a couple of degrees timing on all tables. If you still get the same number of knocks, then it is not knock - it is mechanical noise. I've seen this a number of times on the dyno. Some of the cars were later found to have loose bolts on accessories.

At what number reading on knocks is unsafe?

if there is a recreatable real knock (as opposed to false knock) at high load high rpm, then i would even say 1. if you have the tool to fix it, why not fix it?
of course everyone has noticed at one time or another the dreaded 2000RPM high load knock that we can't get rid of. but if you have a recreatable knock at 4500 under WOT, then why would u want to leave it there and have it knock every time you go WOT?

if you have tried removing advance from all maps and still have a knock i would suspect carbon build-up on the pistons igniting the mixture esp. if this happens when the car has been running for a while. hope this helps
