Hondata and nitrous???

Post by 92b16vx »

One of the guys at our forum brought up the question of using the full throttle shift feature and what it would do while running a WOT nitrous system. How would this work,is there provisions in the Hondata for this application?Well thank you, hope this isn't confusing, just trying to help out a buddy. :D

Howdy there pills,oh well.I suggested to him it may have something to do with tricking the tps,but I don't see how.I guess he'll really be doing full throttle shifts!Though I would think if he was using a more advanced nitrous system it could be worked into the control box.

I thought about how to use nitrous and the full throttle shift for almost a month. It was so simple when it came to me.

At first I was going to make the window switch turn off at an RPM that is lower than the RPM drop for the full throttle shift, but that means the nitrous would stop flowing almost 1000 rpm before the limiter. That would be useless.

So what you could do is use the clutch switch to operate an NC (normally closed) relay that feeds power to both solenoids. That way, any time the clutch is pressed in, the nitrous and fuel stop flowing.

I did not know that the Hondata could trigger the nitrous, so I have not thought about how to hook it all up with the Hondata controlling the nitrous.

Hopefully the guys at Hondata will make include the following in their newest designs:
1. Windowed RPM setting for on/off nitrous flow.
2. Nitrous turn off when clutch is depresses that enables you to use the full throttle shift feature (I think that is the most important part of making your car run to it's full potential.
3. Progressive nitrous flow (this might be a long shot??) Not RPM based like the Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind, but time based like the NOS unit.

I would get another Hondata ASAP if it had features for nitrous like that!!
If it ain't turbo, it's crap.
