cant go into closed loop?

Post by FreshDA9 »

ok i just got all my obd1 swap done and was datalogging but my short and long term fuel trims where at zero. I have the my PLX wired into D10 eld. but if closed loop is checked or unchecked nothing changes or even if i change my short trim adjustments still zero. am i not going into closed loop?

this is all sitting at idle and a few revs no load on here. my short fuel trim is set at 14.7 in the options but is around 15.5 and doesnt move if i change my short trim at all.

looks like the narrowband input is getting too much voltage. It doesn't understand anything over 1 volt(as I understand anyhow), but is getting 5 volts. Also something happens around 17.5, you lose vaccum and injector duty goes from 1 to 4%.

it also only says i got to 4% tps and didnt register the second time between the 18 and 20 column on the graph. I have the wideband and narrowband wired up to the diagram. but if i have closed loop checked or not it still sits around 15.5 to 16.5 coolant up to temperature and i upload the calibration and see no change in 02 voltage 3.81 across the datalog.

So i was messing with it some more again today. i changed my idle A/F from 16.2 to 14.6... I changed my minimum and maximum short terms to -10 and +10. i then took my car for a drive around my neighborhood and dataloged it and short trim showed up 1%.

the map is the base P74 and i have the PLX as stated above installed by the directions in hondata's tech section.

O and i got to test out the Fan function and works great in my car i know a few people who say they tried it didnt get there fan to kick on but mine did.

Check the voltage of the narrowband output using a multimeter. Check the installation of your wiring. Unless you have a faulty PLX then there is nothing else it can be.

So my datalogs are correct and the wideband is hooked up correct since my 02 shows 3.81????

Ok i got some results.

PLX NB output - 0.36v not plugged in
Hondata 02 input threw boomslang harness - 2.16v not plugged in
PLX pluged into 02 input - 4.13v

Smanager readings 3.79 - 3.81 unpluged A/F 17.45 no fluctuation but plx gauge reads 14.7

Smanager pluged in 3.81 no fluctuation 14.7 matches gauge at -0.1 offset

im going to recheck my boomslang wiring for the 02 but what do you guys think i know NB should only be 0-1v and i still havent herd anything about that other post quote.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit

Sorry i am getting use to this new meter apperently it spiked at those numbers and then comes down in volts.
PLX unhooked is at 0.00v and when hooked to d14 it fluctuates between 0.41 - 0.49v i also checked this on the boomslang harness in 3 spots 1 being right nest to D14 pin. Problem is Smanager is still seeing 02 at 3.82v's??? also checked my wideband and its reading around 2.41v. but still no short or long fuel trims moving please help so i can get this to the dyno!!!

What color is the wire at D14?

they are all green because the boomslang jumper harness. the wire on the boomslang is white to d14. i can look to see the corresponding color on the obd0 stock harness. i know obd-1 stock harness color of D14 should be white aswell.

This is how i wired it.

Install the 4-wire oxygen sensor. Splice a factory 4-wire O2 connector to the supplied sub-harness. See the wire color charts on the diagram page.

• Connect the white wire in the supplied sub-harness to the white/red or white O2 signal wire in the factory O2 connector.

• Connect the gray wire in the supplied sub-harness to the green/blue or green/white O2 ground wire in the factory O2 connector.

• Connect the orange wire in the supplied sub-harness to the orange/black O2 heater wire in the factory O2 connector.

• Connect the yellow wire in the supplied sub-harness to the O2 yellow/black +12V wire in the factory O2 connector.

It does not sound like you have this wired in correctly. Follow the instructions at http://www.hondata.com/techplxwiring.html

ok i did find 1 mistake in my wiring. i jumped the 2 black wires with a 1k resistor like said. i unpinned the 2 black wires on the connector and left the NB. So i did another data log and still the same the only diffrence now is if i dont have heater disabled it will throw code 1 and short trim ill go to 1% and when i clear the code and disable the heater it will go back to 0%. and 02 volts still say 3.77 but it fluctuates a little to about 3.82..

I think you should try wiring the NB input directly into the harness @ the ecu. terminate any other connection past that point. At least then you have narrowed it down to that point.

i would like to keep it plug and play there should be no reason why a connector and 1foot more wire should be messing with the signal.
