need to know if Hondata will work/fix my problems

Post by jeffsciv23 »

okay here goes i have a 99 ex with a d16y8 motor (p2p ecu) turboed. it was an auto but i swapped it out for a 5sp a few months ago and it hasn't run right since. with the auto ecu it has a code 70 (auto tranny) and with the manual ecu it has an iacv code. so my question is, if i was to get hondata would i still have all my codes and my car run the same? i know i would have to get a OBD 2 to OBD 1 conversion harness but will that work for my cars harness since it was an auto and the iacv has three wires going to instead of two like the manuals?
hope that wasn't to many questions but i want my car to run right again.
do you think hondata iis the answer for me or would it be a waste of time and money?

Hondata is not an instant "solve-all," rather it is a tool to help you get your engine properly tuned with the mods you have done. Hondata will not get rid of your CEL's...you'll need to figure out why they are coming up to get rid of them. The only CEL's Hondata can disable are for Knock sensor and things like that, if you're using an ECU that supports something like a knock sensor and an engine that doesn't. I'm not sure about the wiring issue on your IACV, and I don't see a problem with the auto to manual swap you've done. I think if you're just trying to get your car to run without CEL's, you should not invest in Hondata and you should investigate why the CEL's are coming up.
