FK2/FK8/FL5 Starting Fuel

Be cautioned that injectors larger than stock often have a poor spray pattern, and no tuning adjustment can be made which will help fuel atomization and mixing.

There are three adjustments that can be made to the fuel when starting the engine.  With larger injectors often one or more tables will need the be adjusted.

1. The fuel for cranking to start the engine.  There are two ethanol tables which are used even if flex fuel is not in use (the 0% ethanol column will be used).

Ethanol fuel adjustment by ECT.  This table is indexed by ethanol percentage and coolant temperature.  The last row must be set to 0% so that fuel once warm is not altered.
Ethanol fuel adjustment by number of injections.  This table is indexed by ethanol percentage and coolant temperature.  The number of injections increases twice per engine revolution.  The last row on this table must also be 0%.

2. The fuel for about 10 seconds after the engine starts.  There are two tables.

After start fuel.  The fuel based on coolant temperature for about 10 seconds after the engine starts.
After start fuel (split injection).  As above, but for when the engine is running a stratified mixture using multiple injections rather than single injection and homogenous mixture.

3. The fuel while the engine reaches operation temperature.  There are two tables.

Warm up fuel.  This table is indexed by coolant temperature at start and current coolant temperature.  This the ECU will read down a column from the coolant temperature when the engine was first started.  The last columns and the last rows should be 0% to ensure correction fuelling when the engine is warm.
Warm up fuel (split injection).  As above, but for when the engine is running a stratified mixture using multiple injections rather than single injection and homogenous mixture.
