Torque parameters

Top  Previous  Next

Some vehicles have a torque limiting table or tables for transmission protection.

Note that CVT transmissions will be damaged by either 'power braking' at any torque level (holding the vehicle on the brake while opening the throttle pedal) or by increasing the torque past about 250 nM.

See Bosch Torque Model for more information.

Reference Torque

This parameter is provided for tuners familiar with the Bosch torque model so that the throttle tables and torque calculation can be visualized.  While this parameter can be changed, doing so may affect other functions such as cruise control operation.  For this reason do not change the reference torque.

Nominal Charge / Reference Torque

These tables are provided for tuners familiar with the Bosch torque model so that the torque pathway can be visualized.  It is critical that if an part of one table is altered, then the other table is updated in such a way that the inverse lookup returns the same value.  External calculators are needed to do this. Otherwise engine operation will be abrupt and unpredictable often with throttle control being disabled due to torque monitoring. It is recommended to only use the build in modifications to alter these tables.

Torque Limit

Overall torque limit as percentage torque (0-100%).

Minimum efficiency

Minimum efficiency from ignition, lambda etc when calculating air charge.
