Export Movie allows you to export a datalog recording as a avi movie file. The movie uses a blue background which may be merged with in-car video footage to create a video overlap of engine parameters over the in-car footage.

 

Filename

Filename - the output filename.

 

Recording Time Span

This sets the start and end time of the recording for video export.

 

Settings

FPS - frames per second.  NTSC movies use 29.97 FPS, PAL movies are 25 FPS.

Width & Height - video frame width. NTSC movies are normally 720 x 480, PAL movies are normally 720 x 576

Font Size - The font size of the overlay information.

This allows each datalogging parameter to be enabled/disabled and positioned on the video frame.

 

Compression

After Export is selected, a window is displayed requesting the video compression method.  Uncompressed avi video is very large (~30MB per second) but using a video compressor will result in a much smaller file (~1MB per second down to 30 Kb per second).

 

Note that the compressor which are displayed are those which have been found by Windows.  Not all compressors will work effectively so it is best test each compressor using only a few seconds of recording to see which compressor works the most effectively.
